National men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik were victorious on the first day of the Swiss Open along with most of the competing Malaysian shuttlers.

The top seeded duo notched a comfortable 21-10, 21-10 victory over home pair Arthur Boudier-Minh Quang Pham to move into the second round.

They face Akira Koga-Taichi Saito next, getting a chance to exact revenge for their shock defeat to the Japanese in the German Open second round earlier this month

Third seeds Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi were also dominant in their opening match to secure progression to the last-16, where they face either a Japanese or Indonesian pair.

Meanwhile, Boon Xin Yuan-Wong Tien Ci did well to come through the qualifying stage, but face a big test against Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty in the first round.

In the women’s singles, S. Kisona also came through the qualifying and faces Scotland’s Kristy Gilmour in the first round.

Soong Joo Ven also earned his main draw ticket in the men’s singles and takes on Ng Tze Yong next.

It was the end of the road for women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah, who suffered another first-round exit in Europe.

The pair, who lost in the first round of All England last week, suffered a 15-21, 21-14, 16-21 defeat against Chinese Taipei’s Lee Chia-hsin-Teng Chun-hsun.

Tan Kian Meng-Tan Wee Kiong also crashed out in the men’s doubles to a Chinese Taipei pair.
